The long head of the biceps femoris muscle of the thigh

The long head of biceps femoris originates from the ischial tuberosity of the pelvis. Both the long and short heads form a tendon that inserts into the head of the fibula. Its main action is knee flexion, but it also extends the thigh at the hip and laterally rotates at the hip and knee.
